When I found out I’d be doing “comfort” for the Back to Black event. First
thing that came to mind was body image. Our perception of how we see
ourselves in the eyes of others can be so damaging to our happiness and
well being. It’s a scary thing.. not being accepted. Being shut out of
society for being too thin, too fat, too tall, too short, too dark, too
pale… if we can’t accept ourselves and find comfort within our own being
then we can’t expect anyone else to. It’s hard. So many people fall victim
to drugs, alchohol, prostitution, and other crimes. Sad to think that
maybe if they had felt a little comfort, a little happiness, and
acceptance, their lives would have taken a different path. Anyway I don’t
want to ramble on, I created a dress. A little Black dress… always a
favorite.
